Portraits of Spike
Spike is a vital part of our operations, both on the land and for
our organization.
Spike was born November 1, 2000. His mother, Ebbie, was a purebred Rottweiler and his
father was "Rover". Once we located his owners we found out "Rover" was part
German Shepard, part Newfoundland and a little bit of Grey Wolf.

Spike decided, from the time he opened his eyes, that he had been born for the
sole (or is that soul?) purpose to shadow and protect me. He instinctively knew that he had his
task set out for him because a puppy from this litter was just not on my agenda
at that time. To make matters worse, he not only had to convince me in the wisdom
of his ways but also Andy..who did not have a dog, no less a puppy, on his agenda either.
Obviously, he was wiser than we were!
And Spike, being part Newfoundland (and therefore Canadian anyway)
...along with Andy and I, made his way to Canada.
